The Best Farmhouse Sinks Reviewed for 2020

Farmhouse sinks have become the must have item for any modern kitchen. Not only do they look great but they are also extremely functional. Large sinks started to be rare in modern kitchens with smaller stainless steel models being preferred, especially with the dishwasher becoming common place. People just didn’t need big sinks anymore. They are back in fashion big time now though and are becoming more and more sought after. After all many modern pans with their non stick technology need to be hand washed so the need for a large sink is slowly coming back to our kitchens. We absolutely order a good farmhouse sink so if you have the space to accommodate one then it’s definitely something I would be looking to add to your kitchen.

So let’s take a look at some of the best ones that are available.

1. Finefixtures Sutton 30″ Fireclay sink

Let’s start with this absolute stunner. As you can tell from the item name this sink will fit a standard 30″ cabinet but depending on your kitchen you may need to make adjustments to your cabinets. This is true of all farmhouse sinks though, just remember to check the dimensions against your kitchen before you buy. This product is 29.5 x 10 x 18.8 inches.

This sink is made with traditional materials and production methods. Some farmhouse sinks can be prone to cracking and staining, as is the nature of anything made of clay but this has been fired at 1600 degrees to give it extreme durability. This sink is really well made and will last you a long time if properly cared for.

Only negative on this one is the tiny logo that sits at the bottom right on the front of the sink. That will bother some people.

Sinks like this are usually really expensive but at the time of writing this one is a bargain. There are cheaper farmhouse sinks out there but they won’t be of the same quality that this one is. If you want a traditional looking sink that is really well made and durable then your search could very well end with this one.

2. LORDEAR SLJ16003 Commercial 33 Inch Farmhouse Sink

It has in built noise reduction with sound Insulated 3mm Thick Rubber ampening Pads & Stone Guard Undercoating. Big metal sinks like this can be noisy when you are using them but this one has been built to dampen that noise meaning it is only slightly more audible that any other sink.

As it’s copper it will require some maintenance to keep in in pristine condition so bear that in mind if you do decide to go for this one.

4. Firebird 30″ x 20″ x 9″ Apron Farmhouse Handmade Stainless Steel Single Bowl Kitchen Sink w/ Drain Strainer Kit Adjustable Tray

If you are on a tighter budget then this beauty from Firebird is well worth checking out. It’s a bargain when you look at what you are getting for the price.

It’s made with brushed stainless steel and while not the same quality as the Lordear posted above it’s still a really nice option. It comes in at 30″ x 20″ x 9″ and has a beautiful apron that will look great in any kitchen.

It also comes with a strainer and adjustable tray that sites nicely over the top of the sink.

Not much else to say about this one. It’s a budget option but one I don’t think you will be disappointed with.

5. ALFI brand AB512 32-Inch Double Bowl Fireclay Farmhouse Kitchen Sink with 1 3/4-Inch Lip, White

When you are getting a sink this big it makes sense to consider making it a split sink. It gives you so much more versatility. This one is a lovely example of a split. Both sides are of equal proportion.

This sink comes with a lip fronted design which brings a little something different to the aesthetics.

Again this is made with the highest quality materials meaning it is extremely durable and will last you a long long time if you decide to invest. There are quite a few options for double farmhouse sinks but this one stands out because of the quality.

Best of the Rest

Conclusion

Depending on the style of your kitchen there are a few different styles and options to consider. We think that the tradition fired clay sinks will look stunning in any kitchen but there is a place for the ultra modern stainless steel ones as well.

Once you have chosen the material you will need to decide on whether you want a split sink or not. It’s well worth considering the split versions. They still offer 2 big areas and it’s great to be able to have 2 sinks if you are soaking a pan in one you still have the other half free for washing vegetables etc.

Finally the apron design is something you will want to think about. Most are flat but there are curved options as well in the stainless steel. The traditional ones come with a few different options if you don’t want something completely plain.
