Induction cooking is becoming more and more popular in the U.S and is now the most Eco-friendly way to prepare food. Because there is no flame there is far less residual heat in your kitchen and there are no harmful toxins released into the environment. As well as being good for the environment, induction cooktops are good for your pocket as well with them using far less energy than their gas or electric counterparts.
The great thing about induction cooking is that the surface doesn’t get hot unless there is a pan on the surface. The magnetic surface detects the pan and transfers the heat directly to the pan, meaning faster heat up times and safer use. Although they can get hot they are generally cool to the touch even immediately after use. They are also up to 75% more economical than gas or electric stoves.
There are loads of great models available in this range but the most common ones are quite small as they were originally manufactured for people with a small amount of space or those looking for a portable cooking solution. Now that they are becoming more popular for home use in general though there are larger variations available that are great for home and commercial use. We are going to look at five of the best extra large versions.
You need compatible cookware to use induction technology but most metal cookware will be fine. Cast iron or stainless steel with work great. To be sure your’s are compatible check the bottom of the pan for the induction symbol. If there is no symbol and you aren’t sure check to see if a magnet will stick to the bottom of the pan. The magnet sticking means you are good to go! If your cookware isn’t compatible you can still use induction technology but you will need to invest in a Induction Interface, there are many available and they are very reasonably priced. Far cheaper than replacing all your pots and pans with induction compatible ones.
Let’s start off with one of the best. The BergHOFF is a modern and sleek unit with a simple one button operation. The button is built directly onto the surface of the unit itself giving it a modern feel and look. On the front is a sleek heat selection knob that goes from 1 to 9.
This cooktop is perfect for use with really large pans as it has a lovely large surface. Despite this it takes up surprisingly a small amount of room as it has been designed in such a way so there is no wasted space. It has dimensions of 5 x 14 x 18 inches.
Made with a ceramic glass top and plastic housing this unit is very easy to clean. It is perfect for camping trips and holidays and even comes with a built in child lock for added safety.

2. BergHOFF Commercial Grade 1800 Watt Portable Touch Screen Induction Cooktop Stove, Single Countertop Burner
Another BergHOFF cooktop. While we favor no brand over any other BergHOFF have some really great induction cooktops. This one has inbuilt touch screen controls straight on the surface of the unit. No longer are touch screens limited to smart phones they are now even on cooking equipment!
Like the other induction units on the list this one is very efficient being 70% more efficient than a regular gas stove and using 50% less electricity. Only heats up your cookware and not the kitchen. It requires induction compatible cookware meaning it needs steel or cast iron pans or any cookware with a magnetic surface. The magnetic bond between the unit and your cookware is what activates the stove. If no cookware is detected the unit will automatically shut off after 60 seconds. This is a great safety feature meaning you don’t have to worry about accidentally melting a plastic pan or leaving a towel over it (although this is obviously not recommended!)
This is a great looking piece and again is very easy to clean with a wipe friendly smooth finish. It is fully programmable via the soft-touch LED control panel and will work with a standard plug outlet.

Portable but powerful is the motto here with his 1800W induction hob. Ideal for cramped spaces or holiday trips but also great for serving large parties with its large surface allowing you to use your big pans.
An easy to use LED screen with touch screen controls fitted right on the surface again. It has 10 heat settings with a heat range of 140 – 464°F, 10 power settings (200W – 1800W) and a 3 hour programmable timer.
Comes with an easy to clean, scratch proof ceramic surface and again will only work with compatible cookware. It has dimensions of 11.4 x 14.1 x 2.5 inches.
This one has been built to last and feels really sturdy when you handle it.
|Product Dimensions||17.5 x 13.7 x 4.5 inches|

|Manufacturer||DOMU Brands LLC|
A super efficient cooktop here with the manufacturer claiming it uses 90% less energy than traditional cooktops. This again has a touch screen surface with all the controls being directly on the surface of the device. It has 8 power settings with 7 different modes of cooking including boil, simmer, fry, saute, steam, sear, slow cook and bbq.
Not as powerful as some of the others on the list but still weighs in with a great 1500W output. Great safety features like auto shut off and pan detection and the surface immediately cools once you remove the pan. This cooktop measures in at 12.25″W x 15″D x 2,5″H, weight: 5.8 lbs.
|Product Dimensions||13.5 x 17.2 x 3.9 inches boxed|
|Item Weight||5.8 pounds|

Last on our list is the True Induction model. While not as visually appealing or as modern looking as the prevoius items on the list this once weighs in with a lot of features, great power and a very large surface.
It boasts a massive 3200W power output meaning it will boild 2 cups of water in less than a minute. Its heat range goes from 150 to 450°F and power from 400w to 3200w. This is double the cooking power of most induction cooktops. It’s probably overkill for general use but would be amazing in a commercial setting.
Like all the others it is very easy to clean with a wipe friendly surface. No touchscreen here though but it has easy to use and easy to see buttons on the front of the unit. One advantage to physical buttons is that they are less likely to malfunction.
The manufacturer really had the commercial market in mind when they designed this one, it has adjustable legs to alter the height and you can bolt it down to the work top to prevent it being accidentally knocked around or stolen.
- Product Dimensions: 13 x 4 x 16 inches
- Weight: 11.4 pounds
