The Best Wok for Induction Cooktops

Woks are incredibly versatile and although generally associated with Asian cooking they can be used to cook pretty much anything. As we know we need specific pans if we are planning on using them with an induction hob. Many woks are quite rounded at the base so unless we have an induction cooktop specifically for rounded bottom pans we need to make sure we get a flat bottomed pan. There are man great induction compatible woks to choose from so lets take a look at some of the best ones currently available.

1. Cate-Maker 12.6inches Aluminum 5-layer Nonstick Coated Wok

This beautiful gold wok from Cate-Maker is a really popular choice. It has a gorgeous speckled non stick surface that is reinforced with Whitord Quantinum which is a long lasting PFOA and APEO free non stick coating. The pan is made with 5 layers of material to ensure that it is extremely durable and will last you a long time.

It can of course be used with any cook top type but has been specifically optimized for induction cooking. The aluminum base heats in 30 seconds and distrubutes heat evenly across the pan like all good induction cookware should.

The wok is dishwasher safe but like any non stick pan you will get a longer life from the non stick coating by hand washing only. The handle is stainless steel and will stay cool when in use. The wok is 3.46 inches deep and 12.60 inches wide at the top. It comes with a glass lid.

This is a truly beautiful wok and even though the gold color might not match with your other cookware it is definitely worth considering.

2. TeChef – Blooming Flower 11″ Wok / Stir-Fry Pan

We love TeChef products because of the great build quality and extra touches they put into their pieces. This one has the beautiful flower pattern we have seen on other TeChef cookware on the surface of the pan. TeChef cookware also boast one of the best non stick surfaces on the market with their DuPont Teflon Platinum coating.  It has no PFOA, Cadmium or Lead.

The wok base is made with a heavy gauge aluminum while the rest of the wok has thin walls that are the hallmark of any good wok. TeChef products are built to last and the quality is obvious from the minute you get your hands on it. The base is 3.5mm thick which leads to a great contact with the induction cook top and heat is distributed amazingly well.

The wok is 8 inches wide at the base and 11 inches wide at the top. The handle is a stay cool bakelite.

If you haven’t looked in TeChef products before then we highly recommend you do. They are amazing quality and get rave reviews all over the internet.

3. Cook N Home 12-Inch Nonstick Stir Fry Wok Pan

This wok comes in Cook N Home’s trademark green color. It’s not for everyone but try not to let the color put you off as this is a fantastic wok. Made with thick gauge aluminum we get great heat distribution and no hot spots which means a great cooking experience and no burning. It doesn’t have the thin sides of a traditional wok but cooks just the same because the heat distribution.

This wok is quite heavy because of the thick gauge build so if that is a concern you may want to look at the TeChef which is a lot lighter.

It has a great non stick cadmium and lead free surface and again while it is dishwasher safe we recommend hand washing to keep the non stick working well for many years. You should also avoid using metal utensils to maintain the non stick coating.

The wok is 3.5 inches deep and measures 12 inches at the top. It doesn’t come with a lid unfortunately but if you are buying this pan to use solely as a wok it’s unlikely you will ever require a lid anyway.

Cook N Home make great quality products so it’s definitely worth checking them out.

4. Lodge P14W3 Seasoned Cast Iron Wok, 14 inch

Lodge are a great American brand that I’m sure you are familiar with. Like most Lodge products this was made in the USA. This is quite different from the other woks on our list as it is 100% cast iron. That means it’s really heavy and it gets really hot all over. It comes pre seasoned and ready to use but like all cast iron cookware you will have to re-season it from time to time to keep it at its best.

This is one of the largest pans on the list measuring 14 inches at the top with a 5.5 inch base. Of course as it is cast iron it retains heat superbly and the heat distribution is excellent. Of course with all the benefits of cast iron there are negatives too. They are a lot harder to clean and maintain plus they are hard to handle as they are heavy and once in use you will need to have silicon hand holders to move it without burning your hands.

That being said this wok will last a lifetime if looked after properly, the durability of cast iron is second to none.

5. Willow & Everett Wok Pan with Premium Lid and Bonus Bamboo Spatula

This wok from Willow & Everett is another really durable choice. It’s built with 3 layers of stainless steel and aluminum for great strength and excellent heat conduction. The wok is 2mm thick which is slightly thicker than most woks. It weighs 4 pounds.

It has a chemical free non stick surface that is also scratch resistant. The wok is 13 inches wide at the top and is oven safe to 500 degrees F.

You get a domed lid with this wok and a bamboo handled spatula. This wok is dishwasher safe. This is a great low maintenance option. The chemical free non stick surface won’t wear off easily but it isn’t as good as some of the non stick options on this list.

As it is stainless steel there is no seasoning to be done or any hard clean ups. The handles do get hot when in use so make sure you get some oven gloves or silicon handles.

Conclusion

There are absolutely loads of induction compatible woks to choose from so you should be able to get something that not only suits your style but also your cooking needs. We are huge fans of the TeChef at number 2 on this list, the build quality is phenomenal and the non stick surface is one of the best out there.

The Cate-Maker at number 1 is also amazing and we loved the gold finish.

Which ever one you choose you won’t be disappointed with your choice. All the woks on this list have great durability and are perfect for use with induction hobs. Let us know in the comments which one you went for.
