The Best Blender For Green Smoothies

Smoothies, in general, have exploded in popularity over the years leading to huge sales for blender manufacturers. Green smoothies are perhaps the best type you can make though if you are looking for a ton of health benefits. They allow people to easily consume fruits and vegetables that they would otherwise never eat in a million years. Veggies like Kale and Spinach, for example, have huge health benefits but let’s face it, they taste pretty bad usually!

So let’s take a look at the best blenders out there that are perfect for making green smoothies!

1. Vitamix 5200 Blender, Professional-Grade

Let’s get started with one of the very best from a company who specialize in blenders, Vitamix. This is one of the most popular blenders on the market right now and with good reason. Everything about this product is high quality.

The Vitamix 5200 excels in pretty much all areas and it handles the leafy greens we are going to be throwing at it with consummate ease. This is probably the best blender on the market right now It’s certainly not a cheap blender but if you are looking for the best then this is it.

This is a big blender with a 64-ounce jug, meaning you can make absolutely loads of green smoothie at once. Most blenders won’t have a jug this size as the motors aren’t powerful enough to get through everything. There are no such problems here, the Vitamix handles a full 64 ounces easily. The motor is so powerful that it can actually cause your ingredients to heat up if you blend long enough, this means you can make soups directly in the blender without having to take the soup over to a stove. It really gets it that hot just by blending!

Simple controls allow you to adjust the speed at any point even when in use. The blades are really great too meaning it can handle the toughest of foods and you always get consistent results even after months of heavy use. The blade is rated as “aircraft grade”.

The thing I hate most about blenders, in general, is having to clean them but with this one, it couldn’t be easier. You just put a little bit of soap and hot water in the jug and blend at high speed. I’m not kidding, it actually self cleans!

The price might be a stopping point for a lot of people but consider that this has been built to last a really long time. It will last for years and years. It’s a worthy investment as this is truly an exceptional piece of equipment.

2. NutriBullet Pro 900 Series – 13-Piece High-Speed Blender/Mixer System

If you are just getting started with smoothies making and don’t want to spend a lot of money then this is a real bargain. This is a great little set that comes with everything you need to get started including a lovely hardback recipe book.

One of the features we like about this one is that it blends directly in a cup that you can then take with you. Once the blending is complete you simply unscrew the blade cap and replace it with a choice of different caps. It comes with a traditional flip top cap but also a cap with a handle on the side. It’s a good size container too at 32 ounces. It comes with 2 cups so if someone in the house is using one there is still one spare. However, if both are in use then you can’t do anymore blending.

It has a powerful 900-watt motor that blasts through everything you throw at it. It comes with 2 colossal cups, 1 emulsifying blade, 2 flip-top lids, 2 handled lip rings, 2 comfort lip rings.

There have been some reports of people having units that leak. We didn’t find that to be the case with ours but there are a few reports of it.

3. SharkNinja Mega Kitchen System BL770

This one comes with a huge 72-ounce jug that lets you make loads of smoothies in one go. However as well as this, it comes with a range of other blending vessels. Like the Nutribullet, it comes with 2 cups that you can take with you once your blend is complete. It also comes with an 8-cup food processing bowl. If you only intend to make smoothies though you will probably never use this bowl. You can use this little mixing bowl for a range of things but the one that caught our eye is that you can knead dough in it. Not something we are interested in doing but it lets you know this is a powerful unit.

This product is great value for money considering all the parts that come with it and all the different capabilities it has.

Again, this one comes with a recipe book. We know that these are pretty much useless when you have the internet but it’s nice to get them anyway to get ideas and inspiration.

Great value for money blender that produces amazingly smooth green smoothies!

4. Aicok Blender, Smoothie Blender 1200W

Aicok keeps popping up with great value products and they have done it again here. Delivering us a blender with an insanely powerful 1200W motor at this price is just phenomenal.

The motor can work at 28,000 revolutions per minute which gives a cutting speed of 140,000 times per minute! Needless to say, this makes short work of green vegetables. It produces silky smooth results that taste amazing!

It comes with 2 “Tritan” Cups, one 35 oz and one 28 oz in size. Again, bear in mind that once both cups are in use you can’t blend. The spout lids are really handy for drinking on the go. Perfect for the gym or work. They go straight in the dishwasher too meaning the clean up on this is really straight forward.

This unit has specifically designed programs available at one touch that mix up the blending and pulsing to get the best result from whatever you are throwing at it. For example, some programs will slow down to allow clumps of ingredients to settle back to the bottom. This ensures you get a consistent end result that is smooth all the way down.

Incredible value for money and perfect for green smoothies.

5. LINKChef Personal Smoothie Blender

This is the lowest priced item on the list and we have included it because it is extremely affordable but still makes great green smoothies.

Again, this is a blender that blends directly in the cup and again, you get 2 cups with your blender. These are ideal for personal use but not so great if you want something the whole family can use.

The 250-watt motor is obviously a lot weaker than a lot of motors on this list but it still gets up to an impressive 27,000 RPM and it delivers a nice end result when blending greens.

The color of this one might put some people off but the cups aren’t pink so I wouldn’t give that too much consideration. The cups are 500ml in size which is a nice amount to carry. They are plastic but BPA free and FDA certified. However, if you want to avoid plastic there are plenty of options out there with glass jugs. You won’t find one with a glass cup though.

The end results are good but the smoothie isn’t as smooth as produced by some of the blenders on this list. At this price though the results are still pretty good. Idefinitelytley better with soft fruits than the leafy greens but it gives an acceptable end result. Overall this is cheap and cheerful but it won’t let you down and it looks pretty funky too!

Conclusion

Which one you buy here is generally going to come down to budget. The Vitamix 900 pretty much blows everything else out of the water in terms of results but it’s really pricey. If you are serious about introducing green vegetables into your diet and you have the budget, just go for it. You won’t regret it and will have a piece of equipment that will last you for a long, long time.

If your budget won’t stretch to that then take a close look at the Shark Ninja and Nutribullet. Both are superb examples of blenders that can handle green veg with ease. The Shark Ninja provides a ton of stuff that you probably don’t need and that makes it a bit more expensive than it needed to be. However, if you have multiple planned uses for your blender this is a definitely one to take a closer look at. The range of vessels it comes with mean it’s really versatile.

We love the Aicok too as it is amazing value and really simple to use. The results it produced were comparable to the more expensive options.

The last item on the list is only there to make sure the list catered for all budgets. This one is good but it’s not really ideal for greens. You really need a more powerful motor to get really smooth results when blending vegetables that is why the more expensive models produce just fantastic results. They can absolutely pulverize veggies with no problems at all. The cheaper ones struggle a bit and sometimes you can get a lumpy drink.
